Barbie Coffee Shop Playset Review

Before this playset was released I was searching for a proper looking Barbie scale coffee machine without any real success. There was older Re-Ment set with a very realistic coffee machine but no one was selling it and if it was on Ebay, it was for a ridiculously high price. Then I saw a coffee shop playset for a Japanese doll but there was a super high postage so it was not worth it. And then this Barbie set was announced and I couldn’t have been happier to finally get a whole coffee related set!

Emily doll Review

Knock-offs never have been on my mind and as a Barbie collector it seems to be a bad taste to buy them. But this is a story of a doll who was a knock-off but has become something else, something pretty interesting.

Who is Emily?

I was browsing a local web shop for all the dolls there, starting from the cheapest to see what they had in offer. Because, you know, how shops often don’t name their listings properly and searching for “Barbie Fashionista” you won’t find her because the shop has listed it with a generic title like “30 cm doll for girls in a blue dress”… So finding dolls on sale has become a bit of a hunting game and sometimes one can stumble on something totally unexpected. That’s what happened with me and Emily.

This doll instantly caught my eye with her unusual face and the beautiful, romantic packaging. So I started to look into it.

The new Made To Move dolls

I pre-ordered them a couple months ago on Amazon.com and since I live in Europe I did not even hope to receive them sooner than the official release date, but today they arrived! I’m beyond excited to give the new bodies to my 2 lovely very dark skinned girls.

Finally they can touch their heads!

Of course the original MTM heads were not perfect. I think by now no one is really surprised by that and I even don’t expect much when ordering body donors. But anyway it is sad how the quality control in Mattel factories does not work at all.

Hello Spring!

Take a walk in this first sunny days of Spring! Now is the perfect time to take outdoor photos because all the components are right:

✓ good lighting (low sunlight adds the right amount of contrast without dark shadows);

✓ engaging scenes;

✓ neutral background;

✓ easy to pose the doll (no wind that tips her over and no wet ground that ruins your dolls clothes).

Just have fun with it and take your time to focus and frame your shot right! 🙂
